Work in Progress Proposal - Co-op Brum Constitution

Hello friends.

One of the things the Organisation and Governance working group is suggesting we need is a constitution. In practice what we think this means is a centralised document with all existing policy. In the context of the away weekend, we also hope that working groups will draft new policy, and I’ve tried to create a structure for this in the following document:

Essentially I have gone through all the decisions made on the forum and tried to pull them into one document. EXISTING policy is in black ink, suggested NEW policy is in red ink.

Of course, any new policy, or policy changes need to be voted on + subject to debate and input from the membership. I think we need to discuss how to do this - do we vote on the whole document once a draft is ready, or go section by section? For the sake of transparency, I think we should vote/debate on the whole document to avoid proposal fatigue, but that is ultimately a decision for us all.

I hope different working groups can produce draft policy to fill in these gaps + suggest things.

Also If i have missed any policy please let me know. Additionally, if theres anything we can do to help explain any of the existing policy please shout.

Also I have a couple of thoughts, which are not based on the working group meetings, but on conversations with members.

  1. Coop brum needs a secretary. We need a rotating position which organises/reminds people of meetings. We sort of agreed monthly meetings, but haven’t managed to do this. I think we set a dedicated day (3rd Saturday?) and one person rallies attendance for these. Could rotate every 3 meetings.

2.) Coop brum needs a Treasury team. My understanding is actually one person is doing most of this, and we should share the responsibility more equally
