Organising meeting Sunday 10th May 6.30pm

If you would like to dicuss something, post it in this thread and we’ll include it in the agenda. You can still add issues to the agenda even if you think you’re not gonna be able to attend the meeting. However, if that’s the case make sure that you provide enough information about the topic (just a few lines, not a dissertation) or speak to someone else and ask them to raise the issue. If you don’t feel comfortable writing and you don’t know anyone who will attend the meeting, feel free to send me a private message and we can arrange a phone call or similar.

Brief report from political meeting (organisational structure approved, code of conduct, aims and principles document, participants not volunteers...)

sergio: first we talked about the organisational structure and approved it. We spoke about the documents being produced. A group of people are going to work on and finalise these documents. Had a duscussion about volunteering and decided to call people participents instead of volunteers, this includees the people receiving the food.

Discussed how the organisation would look like in the future after the virus.

Transition to new organisational structure

having a supervisor in each working group, each working group has to elect their coordiantor and maybe have it as a rotating role. try to understand who is going otf be in which working group and onboard more people then elect their coordinator
Next week start with electing coordinators.
sergio explains that it is a more informal than formal role, almost like a contact person who keeps people accountable for their tasks. seb stresses that it has to rotate in order to be fair.
sean says we need less frequent big meetings and leo says lets vote on things in the forum. sean worries about having meetings with lots of agenda points and a small amount of people at said meetings
carlos: I think in general synchronised communication is an issue, we should encourage communicating on the forum. Meetings are good because things happen quickly.
Sean says some of the working groups are very functional but some arent for example admin and logistics.
sergio: we need to make sure the waiting list for food is updated, we have so many emails we have neber replied to etcetc. also outreach with different organisations, sergio would place himself under logistics and opperations.
we need to answer emails and work on the waiting list! asap baby!
sean: we need to onboard people specifically for not physical stuff, the volunteer onboarding has only really been done when you need to fill in a shift.
make a specific post on socials, make it looks COOL and INVITING.
Small break where dylan explains what boris johnson just said.

Composting idea Sean wants to grow cooperation birmingham, worried that the issues are that its quite service based. thinking of ways to make it less service based. theres tons of growing projects but no compost.

seb: half the stuff we can compost behind the building and then the other stuff is taken away by dale. we seperate out compost, some of it is going to our garden and some of it is going to dale.

Ben: sounds like a good idea, sounds trivial but it might not be.
sean: dale and phillipe went a bit wild and theres already a whatsapp group, people generally are well into it because there’s basicaly nothing similar, we’re doing all this work on coop cycle. we could feasably collect and deliver things using the coopcyle app. theres more to coop brum then the solidarity kitchen. that was a thought i had.
once we made it, i will give it to projects or sell it as a rate.
sergio: I think it’s a really good idea and could help us to get in touch with some other groups but also if the idea of growing goes forward. If you want to do it at a huge scale you need a lot of space dude, it might not be so easy. You also need time, it takes a hell of a lot of time to create compost. Like an entire year.
Sean: compost could actually be ready in two months but I agree with your other points these are some big hurdles.
carlos wants to know the timescales of this project.
Sean says: it will start when it’s ready to start.
:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:sean is crazy but hes cool :sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

 pauls got some points

Paul: Karen at birmingham friends of the earth, utilities readings are behind

Paul: Does anyone have a wheelie bin?

Paul: When does fare share delivery start?

AP - All the above to be communicated directly to Paul

Newsletter idea

like a cute lil magazine, you can pop it in your window. we wanna communicate to them through the newsletter. seans gonna lay it up and do a drafting. it could tie in with producing more content, it could cost a bit of money. its very cheap £40 a week.

dylan loves it, how many can we do?

Ben: im up for it.

kaeden: Can we translate them into diff languages.

sean wants an agreement to spend some money on it. He got the agreement.

he's going to start a thread on the forum around it. Also it needs a name.
